“God is within us all; He made us in his image. This does not mean we look like him, this means we are Him. Who is to say He did not create all the myths? Who is to say His name can’t all the names? Who is to say He can only be from […]
“Most people think I am Christian. But I actually don’t believe the bible is correct. I follow Jesus’s teachings with a twist, because they are basically true, but I think the Nicene Council screwed us out of the facts. There are many ancient societies with tablets recording history that is contrary and also […]
What experiences defined your beliefs? “First, trying to understand why I was abused as child, why family members hurt me in a way so horrific that it will affect me the rest of my life. I was taught God does things for a reason and we don’t understand - that wasn’t good enough. […]
“I can’t believe in the g-d I was raised to believe in; s/he just couldn’t be cruel enough to dose me with so much emotional pain early in life.”
What defined your religious beliefs? “Mental and emotional abuse by a stepmother who is devout Baptist.”
Surprise aspect of my beliefs? “I am superstitious. For example, I won’t […]
“I am not a ‘belonger’ or a ‘follower’; a big part of my spiritual beliefs are about personal responsibility for my thoughts, words, and deeds. I understand what it means to belong and receive the benefits of a church community, and what it means to be required to believe.
I am sure “God” exists when I […]
“I do not know how to identify myself. I just believe in God; somewhat Christian; AA spirituality. I go to Catholic Church for my kids, but have too many problems with the religion to get too involved. I am more into AA spirituality.”
I believe God exists. I do not have to call this higher power God - I choose to. God is in life, in others, in nature, in The Way.
I was raised to believe that Jesus died for my sins, and I choose to believe that. But my focus is on God and living a spiritual life, in my actions and connection to others and the world - not just heaven, but at each persons level.
“I’ve lost my faith and have regained it to lose it again many times. It’s the rebirth of faith that gives me hope that there just may be a God. The rebirth of faith comes so surprisingly and sudden. A total stranger needs assistance and I act without thought to my own safety or […]
“The human mind is limited. I believe that whatever exists is beyond our comprehension. I grew up with very little religion in my family, but had many friends who went to church regularly and believed things like, “the devil made me do it.” I never believed it, it seemed so silly to me. […]
“Simply put, there is no physical proof. [I believe] religion was created to keep people in fear, so we can maintain order. In my late teens, I tossed away all beliefs of a god. In that same time I gained a bit of respect for most religions. Anything that can help you get […]
“Yes I know there is a God or a deity, a creator, well…. there’s something out there and in us. I was born already knowing [my beliefs]. The conditioning of modern culture forced me to disbelieve my own thoughts. It wasn’t until I let go, and gave in to the need for true knowledge I […]
